An Inconvenient Truth

I saw An Inconvenient Truth last night, a pretty powerful movie. A little bit of a bummer considering how fucked up the climate and world is right now. It is pretty amazing to be able to put together a compelling movie which is more or less an hour and a half power point presentation. Gore is a real good speaker especially when talking about a subject he’s passionate about.
Apple must be quite happy, half the movie they have a Powerbook front and center with Gore working away on his presenation on Keynote and the quality of it is impressive.
I was a little disappointed with him including the political stuff. The world wouldn’t magically be perfect if he got elected. I think focusing a little more on what people can do now, and a little more on hope. This seemed to be just relegated to the credits. However, I think the point of the movie was to shock people into action.
My little action so far was to replacing all my light bulbs in my apartment to GE’s CFL twirl bulbs. They last 8-13 times longer and save up to 75% in energy costs. A simple action that any of us can do.
