Back from New York City...

Date: Feb 28, 2005

I just came back from spending five days in New York City, you gotta love that place. It’s just so big and authentic and truly New York, no where else like it. Plus I was able to quench my thirst to see bright orange fabric up close and personal.

The Gates were actually really cool, for being just simple fabric. They may not be any deep statement about life or art, but it really brought people out and got them talking and excited about something. The following quote I overheard sums it up well:

I’m not sure what they mean, but I like them

The re-opened MoMA also turned out the crowds. Good to see people enjoying art, it’d be even better if they did it on days I wasn’t there. :) I really loved the Open Shutter photographs by Michael Wesely. Three year exposures of the MoMA construction, simply amazing! I’ve ordered his book and if I can get my ass around to writing more photo book reviews I’ll write one up when it comes in.

You can
view my set on flickr here. I plus have a dozen rolls of film to go through and put up, expect to see plenty in the weeks to come.
