loop this!

Date: Mar 3, 2006

My favorite local band, LOOP!STATION played last night at The Independent for their CD release show. They rock! The band is simply two people, a vocal and a cello. They sample themselves live and build up songs out of their own loops. It is really amazing what they put together! Plus Robin's voice is just awesome!

If you get the chance, they'll be playing in Oaktown, March 31st. You won't be disappointed with their show. You can also check them out at: www.loopthis.com

In me news: I start a new job on Monday; should be pretty interesting. It's the very start of a startup. The fun challenge of building up an entire company from scratch. Needless to say I'm a little bummed my travels and wandering is over for now.

A few other quickies:

  • April 18, 2006 marks the 100 year anniversary of the 1906 Earthquake that destroyed San Francisco. The SFMOMA has a photography exhibit of photos from it, some amazing panoramas and photos. It amazes me at the total destruction and the resolve of the people to rebuild it to how it is today.

  • I want to give a big F.U. to Wells Fargo. They charge way too many fees and are just a pain in the ass. I switched my checking account back to ETRADE, I liked the idea of a local bank but screw them. I’d go into it a whole lot more but I’m trying to be more positive this year.

  • And here’s a few photo goodies to check out: filmwasters.com, a new site by some really creative folks; some eerie pinhole tracking photos by Nicolai; and finally a crazy guy who made a pinhole camera out of a matchbox.
