The Cricket
I went to my first cricket match last night, Queensland Gold Bulls -vs- Tasmania Tigers, an interstate match.
It was something called a Twenty-20 which had a weird set of rules, about the number of overs and length of match. I'm not quite sure how the rules differed from a normal match, considering I don't understand the rules enough as is; but it was intended to get the entire match finished in 3-hours.
Unfortunately only the first half got in because of a torential down pour. You gotta love the tropics. It was probably one of the hardest rains I've seen, comparable to the Peru rain forest. Plus they kept losing power off and on at the stadium, made for an interesting night.
But they did get more than half the match in; Queensland, the home team, got to bat first and they did quite well. Scored 136 runs. They even had a six which is more or less a home run. I'd love to see how Barry Bonds would do.
I was disappointed they didn't sell cricket balls in the merchandise store, I'm curious the weight and material of the ball. I'll have to drop in a sporting good store here to check them out.
All in all it was good fun, plus I got to sit next to a couple of cute aussies that I flirted and pestered with questions playing dumb, which wasn't too hard. Also the row behind us was filled with drunks heckling the players.
