Twelves #8 – Sturbridge

Old Sturbridge Village is a re-creation of an 1830’s New England Village, a large outdoor living history museum. The village sits on 200 acres and consists of 40 original buildings you can explore, including homes, meetinghouses, a school, country store, bank, pottery and glass trade shops.

Sturbridge Village is a great way to see how life was during the 1830’s in a way you would not get out of a typical museum, walking through the towns, seeing the space and how people work, it’s a great experience.

  1. Have a place quite similar in B.C. — Barkerville that was once a thriving gold mining town. Unfortunately, on my visit, funds had been cut, so don’t know how the ghost town is holding up as it is an out of the way tourist spot.
